Hello, Fellow Diving Enthusiasts!

I’m Heiko, and I’m excited to welcome you to my personal diving blog: “DivingVibes.” Here, you’ll find exclusive diving reports and informative articles about diving.

Why Just Another Diving Blog?

First of all, diving is my greatest passion. Unfortunately, I also discovered this wonderful hobby too late. Actually, the fascinating beauty of the underwater world remains hidden from most people throughout their lives and that’s really a pity.

On the other hand, people in my family and circle of friends are always absolutely thrilled when I talk about diving or show videos and photos from my diving trips. Many of them have already started diving themselves. Therefore, I want to inspire and encourage as many people as possible to discover the wonderful world of diving for themselves.

Moreover, even for experienced divers, there’s always something new to learn and explore. With my exciting diving reports, valuable tips, and detailed informational articles, there’s hopefully something for everyone, whether you have 1000 dives logged or are just starting out.

How Has Diving Become My Greatest Passion?

To be honest, it’s an exciting story. I’ve always loved being outdoors in nature, and water has always fascinated me. But somehow, I never thought of diving. Then in 2017, I planned a vacation to Flores (Indonesia). It was a recommendation from a friend who was absolutely thrilled with the island. Among other things, he told me that he snorkeled with manta rays in Komodo National Park. He said I had to do it too and casually mentioned that diving there would be even cooler rather than just snorkeling.

The enthusiasm and passion with which he talked about his encounter with the manta rays really triggered my interest. So, I started researching and decided without hesitation to do my OWD in Germany before the trip to Flores. That went smoothly, and I was ready for my first ocean dive: Batu Bolong in Komodo National Park – arguably one of the best diving spots in the world. The dive lasted only 28 minutes due to excitement and limited diving skills, but it was indescribably beautiful, and my passion for diving was completely ignited! No wonder I saw different reef sharks, manta rays, turtles, giant trevallies, and turtles in just three dives in Komodo. Read here my complete report about diving in Komodo.

Since then, diving has been central to my free time and vacations. I’ve had unforgettable diving experiences in so many beautiful diving areas, for which I am incredibly grateful.

Diving in the North Ari Atoll (Maldives) with sharks basically every dive or watching giant turtles for hours when diving in Marsa Alam (Egypt) are just two other highlights worth mentioning.

Moreover, I also enjoy the athletic aspect of diving. Therefore, I continually try to improve my diving skills with my buddy or through new certifications. Currently, I’m doing my PADI Rescue Diver.
